Founder and Contributor

Victor Justus Messerschmidt is a German-Czech lawyer specialising in intellectual property and the international art market. He holds an LL.M. in Art Law from Rome.

He has practised film law and intellectual property in international and boutique firms and in-house in the luxury sector, across Germany, Italy, and Austria.

As a former member of the Vienna Boys' Choir and a lifelong pianist, he came to law from the creative world. His studies during the master on the evolution of the art market between art advisory and legal issues turned his focus to the acquisition, advisory and circulation of artworks and collectible design.

The Philosophy

Æsthesis Studio bridges aesthetic curation with economic analysis. Centered on the contemporary art and collectible design market, the platform examines current frameworks and trends that shape value, heritage and market dynamics.

Our focus addresses operational realities of the art world: provenance, intellectual property, cross-border movement and the underlying mechanisms of the primary and secondary markets. Parallel to this analysis, we curate books, objects, and cultural references that support a disciplined, considered approach to collecting and living with art.

We collaborate with galleries, collectors, publishers and cultural institutions through weekly Margin Notes, dedicated editorials and strategic partnerships.
